What are organic products?
The term “organic products or foods” refers to food products produced by organic methods, in accordance with the requirements of National and Union legislation. These products do not contain harmful chemicals, such as herbicides, insecticides, fungicides or chemical fertilizers. Organic production protects the whole ecosystem, as it minimizes the burden on the aquifer horizon, preserves biodiversity and soil fertility, while at the same time does not harm the health of the producers since they do not come in contact with synthetic chemical pesticides. Organic products are controlled at all stages of the agrifood chain.
How they are produced
Organic farming – livestock farming is a mild method of producing food. For plant cultivation it is forbidden to use synthetic-chemical fertilizers and insecticides, hormones, etc. while natural materials such as minerals, plant debris and manure are being used. The organic production method takes care to maintain and increase soil fertility by adopting a range of techniques such as crop rotation, fallowing, greasy fertilization, livestock manure or other organic materials.
